Diminutive Duet: A Poetic Suite

Nisa Winter

Birds in the Setting Sun (Tanka)

Seven kids in all;
with our parents, we were nine.
They left us too soon.
Three sisters departed too.
Four leaves remain on the tree.

Moonlight (Haiku)
(Turkish translation by the author)

Through my dark window,
a glow of moonlight, dancing:
A sign, this I know.

Mehtap
(Yazar tarafindan Türkçeye çevrilmiştir)

Karanlık penceremden,
Ay işığının parıltısı, dans ediyor:
Bir işaret, bunu biliyorum.

‘Birds in the Setting Sun’ artwork is by the author’s god-daughter, Nisa Winter.
