RITUAL FRAGMENTS I

zhang kaiyv

First, find a body (of water)

it can be a lake whose surface tension quivers

or a tank top collapsing in sweat

though I prefer rivers.

Be sweet sugar, introduce yourself as soluble

(if you must be salt that too is fine,

but the hummingbirds only drink sweet water/

if you must be saline, at least clean these wounds of mine).

now that you are granular,

she will take you in her tides

and you can be used for useful things

like stirring up sand so fish can hide.
