they say the breeze came and brought you in

Dina Makhmutova

but it was a gust to me
lifting the hairs on my arms
the ones you can only see against the kind of light
that reveals drifting motes in room air
you’re a smell i haven’t smelled in forever instantly
recognizable yet unplaceable
a millisecond technicolour super
-cut
remembered as if just after waking up grasping
for the reason for a feeling
i very much feel and
wish i could still
a moment from now
